About

William

General Counsel

Bill is a semi-retired lawyer specializing in investment law with extensive business experience. His investment law experience includes representing institutional investors acquiring and managing publicly and privately issued debt and equity securities, serving as legal counsel to a family of SEC registered mutual funds and being General Counsel for an SEC Registered Investment Advisor with $28B under management. This “buy-side” focus is enhanced with issuer, compliance and corporate governance experience obtained by serving as an Officer or Director of 5 public and over 25 private companies.

It took a long time to do all those things. Why is he still working as Summit’s General Counsel?  Because he believes that if you want a happy and vibrant life the best thing to do is to do what you love to do for as long as you can.  And he loves working with people and money as he has done for the last 45 years.  That plus he is a lousy golfer.

Bill’s undergraduate degree is from Wabash College and law degree from the University of Iowa.  He also was a Distinguished Military Graduate from the US Army’s Officer Candidate School.

Bill and his wife Agnes have been married for 52 years and are the proud parents of daughters Wendy and MaryHelen and super-proud grandparents to Sasha and Ethan.  Bill currently is a director of the Illinois Prairie Path Corporation, as well as Great Rivers Community Capital, Inc.
